Better Lawyer Ratings: Why you Should Make Lawyer Videos Part of Your Search for an Attorney

When you’re in need of legal help, looking online for a lawyer can be a real challenge. Even though it’s easier than ever before to purchase goods and products online, the ability to efficiently search for professional help lags far behind. The resources that you can bring to bear in searching for a product—such as customer reviews—are few and far between for attorneys. However, a new trend in the legal community has helped bridge the gap: lawyer videos. Now you can see and hear legal advice straight from attorneys in short, concise informational videos. This will allow you to judge which lawyer is best suited to represent you, using your own eyes and ears. You will also, however, be able to see the lawyer ratings posted by clients, giving you a holistic view of how that lawyer stacks up. Here are a few more reasons why making lawyer videos part of your lawyer search is in your best interest.

1        You get to know them. By listening and watching them discuss the law, you can get a real sense of what kind of attorney they are, whether it’s confident, aggressive, knowledgeable or professional. Videos give you a level of understanding that you just can’t get from text alone. And if you can’t quite trust your instinct, you can always look at his or her lawyer ratings.

2        You can tell they’re comfortable with modern technology. Not all firms have joined us in the Information Age. Those firms who still send out fax blasts, never respond to email and who created their websites only grudgingly can be dangerous to clients. The inability to use technology in pursuit of a client’s interest can lead to missed opportunities, possibly resulting in serious loss for that client. Now, it would be absurd to say that just because a firm doesn’t have lawyer videos on its website means that it is one of those obsolete firms; however, if a firm’s website does include lawyer videos, it’s a pretty clear indication that it is technologically savvy.

3        You can thin out the herd. There are so many lawyers from which to choose, being able to limit the number that you’re wading through can be a great help—and only looking at those attorneys with lawyer videos is a simple way of doing just that. By visiting video legal directories like www.viewmylawyer.com, you can be sure that you’re looking at technologically up-to-date lawyers who are confident enough in their knowledge to share some of what they know for free in the form of informational videos. In addition, those very same lawyers have allowed viewers apply ratings to them, giving  you a chance to see how well they served former clients.

4        You’ll learn in the process. The majority of online lawyer videos are designed to answer questions that many new clients have about the legal process. By watching these videos, you’ll gather valuable information that will help you know what questions to ask during your first attorney-client meeting.

Lawyer videos are a time-saver, allowing you to focus on finding a great, highly rated lawyer from the comfort of your chair. They are a valuable way to narrow the field, and allow you to judge for yourself which lawyer is right for you.

I so agree with you about not wanting to use lawyers who don’t even know how to check their own email! In this day and age, when computers are available basically everywhere and even a monkey could get an email address, it’s extremely stupid not to at least make an effort to adapt to modern times.

I also agree– being comfortable with technology is an important part of being a modern lawyer. I’d suggest that anyone who isn’t comfortable even checking their email (as Orana says above) should probably take some classes on computers and the internet, just so they won’t be left behind in this modern world.

This is extremely true. For the reasons listed above…I enjoy watching videos made by lawyers (and well just other professional people). It makes them seem more “real and personable”.
